Margo Karriker, RPh, PharmD, FSVHP, DICVP - Clinical Pharmacist
Dr. Margo Karriker is unique as a pharmacist in serving only veterinary patients. She completed a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and completed a two-year residency in clinical veterinary pharmacy at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Dr. Karriker is a board-certified veterinary hospital pharmacist and a diplomate of the International College of Veterinary Pharmacy. She has specific research interest in compounding customized medications for veterinary patients, as well as pain management for companion animals. In addition to her position at the UCVMC-SD, she also holds an appointment with the UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences as an assistant clinical professor where she works to educate pharmacy students about the needs of the veterinary profession. Pursuing an interest in preparing for and assisting animals during times of natural and man-made disasters, Dr. Karriker also serves as team pharmacist for National Veterinary Response Team 3, through an appointment with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Krysta Martin, RPh, PharmD, FSVHP - Staff Pharmacist
Dr. Krysta Martin is a pharmacist serving only veterinary patients. She received a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree from UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. During her time in pharmacy school, she completed an elective course in veterinary pharmacy and a six-week clinical rotation at UCVMC-SD. Dr. Martin also completed a one-year residency in clinical veterinary pharmacy at UC Davis, spending time at both the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and UCVMC-SD. In addition to her position at the UCVMC-SD, she also holds a position with Food Animal Residue Avoidance and Depletion program at UC Davis where she provides withholding period recommendations for food animal products to veterinarians that have utilized extra label drug use.
Emily Richards, RPh, PharmD – Fellow in Pharmacy with an emphasis on Food Animal Medicine
Dr. Emily Richards is a pharmacist specializing in veterinary practice. An avid animal lover, she completed an elective course in veterinary pharmacy and a six-week clinical rotation at UCVMC-SD. She obtained a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree from UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Richards is currently participating in a two-year pharmacy fellowship with an emphasis on Food Animal Medicine, splitting her time between the UCVMC-SD and the Food Animal Residue Avoidance And Depletion (FARAD) program at UC Davis.
